HAYC3 will be hosting two Intro to Clay Sculpting classes this winter. Offered January 30 and February 13 from 6-8pm for $50, the classes will cover the basics of pottery making.
HAYC3 will also be hosting a series of six clay sculpting classes on Tuesdays beginning in February 27 and running through April 3 (February 27; March 6, 13, 20, 27; April 3). Open to adult community members of all experience, the class will introduce the creative joy of working with clay without a wheel. Each two-hour class will focus on different aspect of designing, creating, firing, and glazing pieces of your own making.
The first week will focus on the basics of rolling, cutting, and attaching clay, and provide an overview of the drying and firing process. Time will also be devoted to sketching pieces and creating templates for your pieces. The remaining classes will be devoted to assembling, decorating, glazing and firing creations in the on-site kiln. Potential project options include small sculptures, serving dishes, vases, candleholders, bowls, pots, and more.
The classes are limited to 10 people and spots must be reserved and paid for in advance ($240 for classes; does not include $50 take-home kit which includes sculpting tools and 25 pounds of clay). To learn more, visit HAYC3.org or call 518-686-9050.
